and 188.295.

Citation: ORS 188.290

Section: 188.290

188.290 and 188.295.

In 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the United States Census Bureau from meeting the March 31, 2021, deadline set forth in federal law to provide states with the P.L. 94-171 redistricting data necessary to conduct state legislative reapportionment. The United States Census Bureau instead provided Oregon with this redistricting data on August 12, 2021. In State ex rel. Kotek v. Fagan, 367 Or. 803, 484 P.3d 1058 (2021), the Oregon Supreme Court extended various constitutional deadlines for the enactment, challenge and judicial review of a reapportionment for the 2021 redistricting cycle. On September 27, 2021, the Legislative Assembly met in a special legislative session and enacted Senate Bill 882, including the Senatorial reapportionment by section 2 thereof, and the House reapportionment in section 1 thereof. In Sheehan/Calderwood v. Legislative Assembly, 368 Or. 739, 499 P.3d 1267 (2021), the Oregon Supreme Court approved the reapportionment enacted by the Legislative Assembly. Pertinent sections of the reapportionment are compiled as 188.300 and 188.305.
